NEWEN® has developed a new machining method called EPOC™ designed to meet the precision criteria in valve seat machining and, in particular, those of the racing world, Formula 1 and others, this method can also meet the requirements of various other machining operations where precision and speed are essential.

Starting with a profile easily created via a touch screen, the method consists in machining a complex shape using a single point cutter. There are virtually no limits to the system, the only limit being the actual dimensions of the cutter used.

Aside from the rotation axis, the part being machined being fixed, the cutting tool travels in a plane owing to two numerically controlled axes, that of the spindle sheath and that of the tool holder carriage.

NEWEN® SPINDLE TECHNOLOGY

The mechanics of the spindle features a very simple kinematics excluding racks and pinions and other driving mechanisms. The entire system is pre-loaded, has no play and guarantees an optimum precision of all machined shapes. The robustness of the system makes it compatible with an intensive use within a production environment.
